In 2020 I was heading product design for NTWRK, the hottest ecomm startup on the block. I worked closely with the CEO devising big strategy for the future of the business. He is design-driven, and so am I, therefore it has been a pleasure to see NTWRK evolve with a user experience focus.
Never before have I had a job where I could contribute to the ‘next big ideas’ for the business in such a high-impact way. I was able to devise big features to build each quarter.
I managed a small but mighty team, still doing the practical, more UI-leaning work myself, while also delegating and managing the pipeline. I worked closely with Product, Engineering and the CTO to ship features and products.
While performing the high level strategy and ‘bigger picture’ work, I managed the regular feature improvements and updates to the app to keep us ahead of the trends.
A few times a quarter, I would deliver large-scale design concepts that could change the focus/direction of the app.
A few times a quarter, I would deliver large-scale design concepts that could change the focus/direction of the app.
Deliverables were high fidelity, polished and well-thought-out, including all use cases, edge cases and states. We then worked closely and ‘paired’ with engineering to see designs through.
A lot more projects are still under NDA, but I’d love to talk you through my process and achievements at NTWRK.
During the year I did four interviews and a live panel about being a woman in tech leadership, and talked to women with intention to move into product design, product or engineering about what to expect and how to go about it. You can view these on my ‘About’ page.
I present my concepts to the C-suite, and talk through the value of the design project, the expected return and the expectation of how it will resonate with users. I like being challenged and asked ‘why’ when we’re looking at concepts, to talk through the research and validation that went into a design.
